We got out of class around noon on Friday, so my coworker and I hit the road and managed to make it back home by about 9pm. It was a really good school, but it was long days crammed with info, and by the time we made it back to the hotel in the evenings, all we wanted to do was find some food and then crash.

So, no, we did not make it to the Arch. Oh Well.

Next Saturday is the “Bench on the River” bench press competition in New Roads, LA, so yesterday I made it to the gym by 9am to join the rest of the powerlifters there in the last big bench press workout before the meet. Everyone was trying to settle on what lift they would open up with at the meet, which is a question that is still plagueing me. I can bench 135 raw without too much trouble, but I don’t want to start with that in a meet, because if you miss a lift, you can’t lift more than that on your next try (you get three lifts.) On the other hand, I can probably do far more with a bench shirt, however the shirt I bought still needs probably another month of breaking in (photos tomorrow of the physical side-effects of breaking in a bench shirt.)

In the meantime, I’m trying to get my house cleaned up after being gone for a week. The good news is that my child did survive a week of being cared for by my darling husband. I’m not sure the same can be said for the house.
