Via Jay Lake:
If you read this, if your eyes are passing over this right now, (even if we don’t speak often) please post a comment with a COMPLETELY MADE UP AND FICTIONAL memory of you and me. It can be anything you want - good or bad - BUT IT HAS TO BE FAKE.
When you’re finished, post this little paragraph on your blog and be surprised (or mortified) about what people DON’T ACTUALLY remember about you.
You were hip-deep in molasses, hanging on to a rusted iron lamppost for dear life even as that team of Percherons foundered and suffocated in the syrup so close you could have touched them. I had, for some reason I can no longer recall, a pair of snowshoes with me, and worked my across the top of the flood with a rope over my shoulder. There was no leverage, all I could was lash you to the post and wish you well before I went on to the horrors that awaited me.
