I came across several software packages after googling “word frequency analysis software”. No personal experience with one though.

I will have to check tomorrow when I’m on my PC, but I kinda think Liquid Story Binder can do it. I know I have a program somewhere that can!

I do a lot of proofreading (fiction) and word repetition is definitely a problem. Some words just seem to burrow into a writer’s brain and flow out through the fingertips. Happens to all of us; authors’ predilections are just more obvious. After all, who reads what I write? nobody, that’s who. But you all have a wide audience.

If you are using Word, all you need to do is use the “find” and see just how many times you used “just” in a single paragraph!

Yes, such a thing exists. It’s called “Autocrit Wizard” (http://www.autocrit.com/autocrit/wizardformpage.php). There’s a free version that checks for repeated words and phrases, overused words and sentence length variation, but the full-blown version doesn’t cost much and is well worth it. The software sees those little problems even your crit group misses sometimes.

Alexandra–but I don’t want to have to do that manually for every single paragraph/page etc. I want someone to come up with a macro that will do it all for me.
